I’ve gone to a Quaker school all my life, and while the administration and student body are by no means perfect, nothing in the op or really any of SJ Tumblr would ever be tolerated. Sexism, racism, and oppression by any means would not be tolerated. Supremacy of any kind would not be tolerate. Being a “bitch” would not be tolerated. Being “an unapologetically rude and mean” would not be tolerated.
Ignoring everything else wrong with this post, the way the OP spits on the concept of Quakerism is saddening. If they are newly Quaker, I suggest they go to their local meeting house and talk to the people there. They can give invaluable advice, reading material, and general guidance. If they have been a Quaker for a long time, I feel for their meeting house, as chances are that they do not act this way around them. The members would probably be very disappointed with their behavior and attitude.
Let me give you an example of Quakerism in action. When the Westboro Baptist Church protested/picketed in front of our school, our student body stood on the border of the school in silence. We held a banner that said “There is that of God in everyone” until it was time to head back to class. We expressed our opinion calmly and respectfully, and then continued about our business (and to be honest, made complete fools of an admittedly easy to make a fool of group).
I don’t know exactly where I’m going with this, but I do want people who see this to know that they should read it as if the word Quaker was never in the post at all. It’s a beautiful religion and the people that are part of it are generally wonderful people.
